Mexican avocado producers destroy tons of crops after pest detected

Grade Bbullish AI signal

Mexican avocado producers destroyed up to 52 tons of avocados after authorities confirmed an avocado seed weevil infestation in Michoacan, threatening a key export supply chain. Shipments destined for international markets were detained, with producers across Michoacan, Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit destroying contaminated produce under pest-elimination protocols; authorities said affected avocados had not entered the market. US Fintech Weekly: Fiserv Bounces Post-Earnings, Crypto Brokers Suffer, And Federal Agencies Prepare Innovation Guidelines

Fiserv shares surged nearly 13% after earnings, while crypto-linked stocks Robinhood and Coinbase headed for a sixth consecutive weekly decline amid Bitcoin weakness and growing regulatory uncertainty. Fiserv benefited from an earnings beat and a new $500 million share buyback authorization, while six federal agencies are preparing fintech innovation guidelines ahead of a November 15 deadline. Stronger regulatory oversight under Democratic congressional control could pressure crypto platforms, although continued institutional integration may limit the sector's downside.

Corn, soybean futures sag under weight of big US crops

US corn and soybean futures fell to multi-month lows as large domestic harvests continued to weigh on prices, with corn approaching a four-month low and soybeans hitting a 2-1/2-month low. December corn closed down 4.25 cents at $4.40 per bushel, while January soybeans dropped 14 cents to $11.88¼; analysts expect the USDA to report a record-large soybean harvest next week. Rising US crop supplies could maintain downward pressure on corn and soybean prices, while wheat may remain sensitive to developments surrounding Black Sea shipping access.

Their relative independence from the AI cycle could provide portfolio protection if technology stocks face further pressure.

Gold climbs to two-week high as dollar, yields weaken

Gold climbed 1% to $4,102.50 per ounce, reaching its highest settlement since October 21 as a weaker US dollar and falling Treasury yields boosted demand. The 10-year Treasury yield dropped 5.5 basis points to 4.836%, while silver gained 0.2% to $52.233 per ounce. Gold could face renewed selling pressure if Friday's US jobs report strengthens expectations for a December Fed rate hike, despite improving near-term momentum.
